Alcon sees all, and hopes you can too. Through its Alcon Laboratories subsidiary, Alcon sells ophthalmic surgical and pharmaceutical products and consumer contact lens care products. It is the largest maker of equipment used for cataract removal and laser vision correction. Alcon's best known consumer brand is its Opti-Free line of contact lens solutions and related products. The company's pharmaceuticals include glaucoma treatments, anti-infectives, and allergy relievers. Founded in 1945, Alcon was acquired by Nestl� in 1977, but was spun off in 2002. Nestl� retained about three-quarters of the company but announced plans in 2008 to sell its share to Novartis.
