Private equity investor Apollo Investment shines its light on the world of middle-market corporate finance. Through its advisor Apollo Investment Management, it specializes in subordinated debt and equity capital. As a business development company (BDC) and a closed-end investment fund, it provides middle-market companies with mezzanine or senior subordinated loans. It also makes direct equity investments. The company invests between $20 million and $250 million. Apollo Investment has stakes in about 70 companies, including financial services behemoth First Data and vinyl and building products company Associated Materials. The company was spun off from Apollo Advisors (also known as Apollo Management).
