BLOCKBUSTER INC Profile

When it comes to renting movies, this company is a Blockbuster. Blockbuster is the world's largest video rental chain, with more than 7,800 company-owned or franchised stores in more than 20 countries (about 60% are in the US). The chain rents more than 1 billion videos, DVDs, and video games at its Blockbuster Video outlets each year. Customers also can make rentals through its Web site, Blockbuster Online, which competes head to head with the likes of Netflix. The company is closing struggling stores and has announced plans to divest its foreign operations and focus on its business in North America.
