Clearwire obviously has tomorrow in mind. The company operates a wireless broadband network that provides services to nearly 400,000 subscribers primarily in the US and Europe. Services include high-speed Internet access and computer telephony. Its service areas cover about four dozen markets located mainly along the West Coast and in Texas, Florida, North Carolina, and the Midwest. Internationally, Clearwire serves broadband users in Brussels, Belgium; Dublin, Ireland; Seville, Spain; Denmark, through Danske Telecom; as well as in Mexico, through partner MVSNet. The company was founded in 2003 and is controlled by wireless pioneer Craig McCaw (founder of the one-time leading cellular service McCaw Cellular).
