Continental AG keeps rolling along as Germany's largest manufacturer of tires for cars, trucks, bicycles, and agricultural products. Continental sells its tires -- under the Continental, Uniroyal, and General brands -- to automakers such as BMW, Daimler, and Ford. Its ContiTech division produces power transmission systems, conveyor belts, and vibration control systems. Continental's Automotive Systems division, its largest segment, makes electronic brake and traction control systems, chassis and powertrain products, and hydraulic brake systems. It acquired Siemens VDO Automotive in 2008. The largest acquisition in Continental's 135-plus year history, it made the company a top five global automotive supplier.
