METROPCS COMMUNICATIONS INC Profile

MetroPCS Communications is marching to the beat of a different drummer. The regional wireless service provider offers use of its phone networks, which use CDMA (code division multiple access) technology, without chaining its customers to long-term contracts. Unlike other providers that charge by the minute, MetroPCS offers flat monthly rate plans (starting as low as $30 per month) for local and domestic long distance services to its more than 3.5 million customers. It operates in such major metropolitan areas as Atlanta, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, Sacramento, and San Francisco. CEO Roger Linquist and CTO Malcolm Lorang founded MetroPCS in 1994.
