Pulte Homes pulls its weight in providing homes for the Great American Family. One of the top homebuilders in the US (behind leaders D.R. Horton and Lennar), Pulte acquires land to build single-family houses (about three-quarters of total unit sales), duplexes, townhouses, and condominiums at prices typically ranging from $100,000 to $400,000; the average price is about $320,000. Pulte also builds Del Webb retiree communities, mostly in Sunbelt locales, for the growing number of buyers in the 50-plus age range. The company sells in about 51 markets in 26 states (as well as Puerto Rico) with the West and Southeast accounting for most of its sales.
