Chasing the copper top and the pink bunny, Spectrum Brands is the US's #3 battery maker, after Duracell and Energizer Holdings, with its Rayovac brand. The company's alkaline batteries power such consumer gadgets as digital and film cameras, MP3 music players, radios, and remote controls. The company, which markets its products in 120 countries, is a leader in the sale of rechargeable batteries and hearing-aid batteries to manufacturers. Through acquisitions, Spectrum has moved into pet foods and supplies, as well as products for lawns and gardens, and in insect control. Wal-Mart accounts for around 19% of sales. Spectrum gets 60% of its sales outside of the US.
