The fund invests in a diversified portfolio, at least 80% of which consists of fixed income securities rated below investment grade, including corporate bonds and debentures, convertible and preferred securities and zero coupon obligations. It may also invest in fixed income securities rated below investment grade that are issued by governments and agencies, both U.S. and foreign. It may also invest in equity securities. The fund purchases investments diversified across issuers, industries and sectors. There is no limit on the maturity or on the credit quality of any security.
