The fund invests at least 80% of net assets, plus any borrowing for investment purposes, in high yield, fixed income securities. It invests primarily in a diversified portfolio of high risk fixed income securities including convertible and non-convertible debt securities and preferred stock. The fund may invest up to 30% of assets in securities of non-U.S. issuers. It seeks to moderate risk by investing among a variety of industry sectors. Securities selection is based on analysis of individual issuers and the general business conditions affecting them.
