The investment objective seeks dividend income which is exempt from federal regular income tax.
The fund normally invests assets entirely in securities whose interest is not subject to the federal alternative minimum tax for individuals and corporations (AMT). However, in certain circumstances, it may invest in securities that may be subject to AMT. The fund does not limit itself to securities of a particular maturity range but dollar-weighted average portfolio duration may be less than five years. It may invest a majority of assets in securities rated investment-grade and up to 49% of assets in junk bonds.
