The investment seeks a high level of income exempt from federal income taxes as is consistent with prudent investment management and the preservation of shareholders' capital.
The fund normally invests at least 80% of total assets in investment-grade municipal securities that generate income exempt from federal income taxes. It may invest up to 20% of assets in securities that pay interest that may be subject to the federal alternative minimum tax and, although not anticipated, in securities that pay taxable interest. The fund also may invest in municipal lease obligations.
