The investment seeks to maximize total return, consisting of capital appreciation and current income.
The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in equity securities of US companies. It may invest in equity securities of large- and mid-capitalization companies but is permitted to invest up to 15% of assets in small capitalization companies. The fund may maintain both long positions and short positions in equity securities and securities with equity-like characteristics. In addition, up to 20% of the fund's net assets may be invested in securities of foreign companies in developed countries.
